Rainer Killius studied flute and music theory at the Freiburg University of Music and composition in Frankfurt am Main. He has been living in Berlin since 1997. In 1999, he began his training as a lieder and oratorio singer under the guidance of Verena Rein.
His solo repertoire ranges from Renaissance vocal music and sacred oratorios to contemporary music literature. He is also particularly passionate about lieder with piano from the French and German Romantic era in the tradition of salon concerts and musical soirées. He was a co-founder of the musical duo Viola and Voice with Ruth Killius and the musical theatre trio schindelkilliusdutschke.
